Introduction to LPAT Classroom Language Assessment

Introduction to LPAT Classroom Language Assessment is a 6 hour planning and training course. Over the 6 hours, work with Mr May, one on one, to plan your observed lesson and practice your delivery.

You can call Ms Li at 5282-0157 to discuss the arrangements for this training.

What you’ll do

  • Discuss priorities for this assessment, and, in light of your learners and school environment, settle on a focus for your lesson.

  • Learn about how your lesson will be assessed, and the implications of this for your score..

  • Design a lesson plan that allows you to maximise its assessable features.

  • Design slides, handouts and other resources for use during the lesson.

  • Discuss your lesson script and optimise it for your learners, the lesson focus and your supporting materials.

  • Practice your delivery, making use of feedback from Mr May and your own recordings.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Typically, six hours with Mr May and 4 to 6 hours of preparation on your own is sufficient.

  • During training sessions, you will receive recommendations for your lesson plan and feedback on your delivery.

  • We offer these sessions both online and at our office. In any event, Mr May will participate via Zoom.

  • It really doesn’t matter. You are being assessed, NOT your students.

  • You can’t complete this assessment without a primary or secondary school English class to teach. You might be able to discuss this with your school.

  • Unfortunately, I see no way you can complete the assessment in this case.

  • Mr May has been helping people prepare for the LPR since 2003. He typically works with about 15 to 20 people each year.

Incidentally, Mr May himself attended the LPAT exam in 2003 and achieved scores of ‘5’ in all parts of the assessment.
